Police investigating Marshall Street homicide

Richmond Police detectives are in the early stages of a homicide investigation that occurred close to 3AM this morning in the 00 block of West Marshall Street. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Levon R. Alford of the 2500 block of Merle Street in Henrico County.

The investigation began after police were dispatched to a call of a shooting. Within a minute of receiving the call, officers found a male shot on the sidewalk. He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he later died.

Detectives are looking into the possibility of robbery as a motive in this homicide, however the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call the tip line at 514-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 780-1000.
