Scabies cases at Carver Elementary

Channel 6 is reporting that there are two confirmed cases of scabies at Carver Elementary. A source tells us that there are 3.

Our source also claims that 8 teachers and 40+ children are possibly infected. Meanwhile, the report from channel 6 indicates 29 people are complaining of symptoms, but no confirmation from the Health Department as to whether those cases are legit.

Obviously the numbers are a bit up in the air at this point, but we’ll keep you updated. No word yet as to whether the school will be closed.

In a letter sent home to parents and guardians of 5th graders this week it was stated that Richmond Public Schools are working to reduce the spread of infection by encouraging “the use of good hygiene strategies” and “effective hand washing techniques.”
