Warris Dudley, optician and owner is marking the 25th anniversery of Dudley Optical Company Inc. this year. He came to Richmond 38 years ago working for the original Galeski Optical. In 1983 he partnered with Dr. Lindley Smith, one of the first black eye surgeons in Richmond, in a shop at 2nd and Clay before opening his own shop at 418 N 1st St in November 1985.

Dudley Optical is open 9:00 – 5:30 Monday thru Friday and 10:00 to 1:00 on Saturday. He specializes in eyeglasses only and accepts most major insurance. In addition he will toss in some great conversation and customer service. He’s been putting my glasses back together for two years.
