SUV vs Cafe – Cafe Loses
Last Saturday, after a colliding with a VCU police cruiser, a white SUV slammed through the front door of the Marshall St. Cafe demolishing the entrance and nearly taking down the entire front of the building.
From the RTD
Two VCU police officers, two adults and two children were taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, said state police Sgt. Thomas J. Molnar.
Apparently it could have been much worse. The 2nd floor tenant had just taken her dog for a walk and the cafe itself was due to open just 30 minutes later. This could have been a serious tragedy.
Building owner Kelvin Hanson said the building also had three occupied apartments. With part of the wall gone, passersby could see a flat-screen TV almost hanging over the edge, and other belongings. Molnar said the traffic light at the intersection was out because of a power outage.
Earlier this afternoon the vehicle was finally removed. Hanson wants to rebuild and restore the building. Currently Adams and Marshall remain closed.
CBS 6 has a pretty good piece about this.

Repairs are coming along quickly. Apartments are already for lease. No word on the future of the Marshall St. Cafe yet.
