Spaghetti Project
Tucked away in the triangle between Adams and Brook is a unique new store that blurs the line between art and culture. The Spaghetti Project moved to down from Fredericksburg to Jackson Ward last month to take advantage of the younger, hipper art scene in Richmond. The SP features a wide variety of items from T-shirts to custom painted skateboard, but their two signature items are vinyl toys and low brow art.
Vinyl toys are collectable figures that are based on celebrities, comic book heroes and other cultural icons. They come in a variety of sizes. The picture below is just a small sample of what they carry.
Low brow or Urban art is well, an interesting combination of fantasy crammed into one painting. It defies description, so you will just have to see for yourself. Owner Arlene Munoz has been pleased with the reception she’s been received from her neighbors and new customers. They have a skateboard art show timed to open on October 1st, next month’s First Friday. Stop by and welcome her to the neighborhood and check out their unique merchandise.
